Everything, Everything

sooooo its been a crazy week. fall holiday, skipped my first class like ever (but lets not tell anyone about that) and i got a crap tone of books. the other one im reviewing (tone deaf) will be up soon but the other series (significance) im gonna finish the whole series before reviewing. so this book was fabulous. love love love. so nicola yoon aka my new hero wrote this single book story that made me want to go live life. but im getting ahead of myself let me catch you up. so everything, everything is single book story about a girl named madeline who has SCID which is severe combine immune deficiency disease more commonly known as bubble baby syndrome. basically she is allergic to everything and has never left her house (which is air locked and perfectly clean) the only people who see her are her mom and her nurse carla. so shes perfectly chill with this lifestyle she reads, draws, takes online school, and entertains herself all day everyday UNTIL she gets a cute new neighbor who makes her want more from life than she can have. now i absolutely loved this book my only critique is that it ended so soon. i wish it was a series because i want to follow these characters to the end of the earth. so olly (cute new neighbor) is such an amazing character like if a boy like that knocked on my door and said come take a risk with me you already know what im doin. takin a freakin risk. she honestly throws caution to the wind and yells yolo and hopes for the best and it made me want to take risks or be in a video montage dancing around all tumblr like and living life. don't judge me please. the main message behind this story is literally carpe diem, yolo, and/or oh screw it. these characters grabbed the bull by the horns and that's what you will want to do post reading this. there are lots of pictures so this took me about three hours to finish she draws a lot of things like charts for her life or plans or just anything i mean the chick has TONES of free time. anyways her doodles are cute and its a nice touch. if you want to appreciate life this book will make you i swear. its a super quick read so id recommend it for road trips or just down times its not a difficult read with the doodles and short paragraphs. now when i picked up this book i was expecting a coming of age story nothing crazy got ear the end of it its cute its good and then probably the best part of the book occurs. THE PLOT TWIST. OH MY SWEET HOLY ALIEN BABIES EVERY WHERE THE PLOT TWIST IS SO BEAUTIFUL. i mean definitely one of the best plot twists i have ever read and you don't see it coming AT ALL. like holy poop. im still getting the after shocks every time i think about it. so in short i love this book like a small child and you NEED to read it. please. i beg you.

The Black Key

OKAY GUYS EXCITING DAY EXCITING TIMES.

WARNING: f you haven't read the first three lone city books this may contain spoilers for them

i finally got the fourth lone city book. after months of waiting for it to be published. the countdown clock has hit zero. i may cry. now to recap the jewel series (which i reviewed earlier go check it out) takes place in a world where the royalty must use surrogates to have children and these surrogates have powers called auguries but really they are like avatar airbender powers when they unleash them fully. so the surrogates get treated like actual crap its not okay and the whole hierarchy social system in this world is pretty well for lack of better phrasing its shat. so these surrogates and companions and everyone who got the short end of the stick here decide its time for a rebellion because why the hell not they have nothing left to lose! the book follows the main character violet as she sneaks back into the hell she escaped to save her little sister who was taken in her place. so the duchess of the lake has the pretty effed up plan to take power and what not. basically in this book you see the uprising of the lower class people and how the surrogate embrace their true powers and use them to fight. so i over all enjoyed this book as yall know i read this series in the beginning of the summer and have been waiting for the final installment for SO LONG. so this was exciting. keep in mind i have been dreaming about how this series was going to end for MONTHS. MONTHS PEOPLE. i imagined the twisted ways our characters could make it through this (or not make it through this). and when i read this final book after all the build up i was kind of let down. the ending was a bit generic and predictable and to be honest i was kind of sad. but at the same time i realized i set the bar higher than the druggies at my school so. still it was very predictable no plot twists nothing surprising so there's that. all the characters are pretty much the same violet is protective of her family and makes a lot of split second screw it decisions that can be pretty reckless but also very brave. her boyfriend is mentioned like twice. what was his name again? idk they said it maybe two times. he pulls a "i want to be a hero" at the beginning of the book goes rogue runs of to save some people and we don't hear from him till the end of the book. so if you like him you wont like this. so the battle s subpar the whole book pretty much builds up to this fight scene and the tension is sooooo high and then the battle sucks. it doesn't make much sense and honestly the more i think about it the more pissed i get. so screw you battle. this book was a bit of a downer but it was nice to have closure it was a mediocre book so i wouldn't recommend it but at the same time if you like me HAVE to know how it ends sffr through and find out its not that bad. more reviews coming :))

The Demon Trappers Daughter

alright kiddies gather round im gonna tell you a story of the time i went to half price books and left in tears. twas a lovely summer morning when i rolled up to the second hand book store and ask them if they had the lux series (i have the kindle version but i wanted the paperback) when they told me they did not have it i figured might as well look for the other twenty bazillion books on my "too read asap" list. now i browsed the store only to realize thirty minutes later THEY HAD NONE OF THE BOOKS I WANTED TO READ. grrrrrrr. so i angrily began to take my leave until i saw a book that was in the corner on a stool, the demon trappers daughter by jane oliver. now it was pretty far down on my list but hey something too read is better than nothing. so that's how i got this book. fun story right? now for the summary: the demon trappers daughter is set in 2018 in Atlanta Georgia where the city is run amuck by demons (i think the best way to describe them would be angry pokemon...the trappers try to catchem all and the demons level up as they take more souls) so the demon trappers are a league of men trained to catch the demons its a dangerous job and riley blackthorne wants to follow in her dads footsteps only problem.... shes a girl. and if she can succeed she would be the first girl trapper in Atlanta however with sexiest leaders and angry demons after her rileys journey will be anything but easy. so this book earned some solid thumbs up from me because as yall know i love books with female characters who break gender roles and this book definitely did that. i also liked this book because the romance wasn't that far of from accurate, the first relationship is super rushed like the conversation literally goes "are you dating anyone"-"yea you"-"oh cool". i shit you not that's how they got together. but riley acknowledges that there relationship is super eighth grade lets hold hands under the lunch table and she learns from it through out the book, her character shows obvious growth and its cool to watch her change over the course of the series. now this is a pretty cool story because she still has to go to school, do homework, pay bills, and worry about life so shes pretty relatable even though shes running through a wasted city catching pokemon. so i think i have a bit of a southern twang in my voice and when i read this book i read becks characters voice as deep south Georgia as i could. and i had a lot of fun with it. that's my life for yall... i get my kicks from reading in accents. there are also angels in this book if i didn't mention before and some freakishly religious people who through holy water on innocent bar goers who actually happen to be demons. colorful cast of characters jane oliver, i applaud you. im listening to old songs and dynamite and taio cruz just came on so throw back to taio. sorry yall im a lil add abcdefg today BUT GUESS WHAT!!!! wait ill tell yall my news after i trash this book real quick. there are some dull points that i skimmed through because i wanted to get to the exciting parts (which were mostly at the end) that would be the only thing i didn't like about this book. i would read this if your into series like maximum ride or darkest powers (i say that because the romance was sweet but its not the main point its like a nice side bar amidst the demon fighting) OKAY NOW MY NEWS so i ordered like four books on amazon (eve, the black key, significance, and tone deaf) im super duper excited because if youll look back into my previous reviews youll see i read the first three jewel series books over the summer and the fourth one (the black key) just came out and im so excited!!!! the anticipation has been building for months. so be on the look out for that review ill post it when i finished the book which will probably be very soon....i have nothing else to do. yall have a fabulous day, read the demon trappers daughter hmmm what else oh yes SHAKIRA SHKAIRA. can someone please contact me and mail me a chill pill. please and thanks. read the book. love the book. sniff the book. trap the pokemons.
