The Covenant Series

so i just wrote an essay in about an hour that probably should've taken me three hours however red bull and encouraging pintrest posts allowed me to push through the horror that is history and pull it out. now here i am waiting at the diner table considering starting this big booty new book i bought however i thought it best to start writing about the one i just read while its fresh on my mind, bare with me im delirious and hyper. the covenant series (written by jennifer l armentrout aka the love of my life) is a series based off of mythology with a few twists, i think the fabulous thing about being a writer is you can screw the system and throw in a twist in there because who is gonna stop you!! i digress. in the book the hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers and are up on their high horses like you wouldn't believe. children of hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. they definitely got the short end of the stick on that one. so our story follows alex(andria) a half blood who is one smart ass comment away from being sent into servitude asnd she would rather die than scrub toilets so she trains to become a guard. now the most serious rule in this hierarchal society is pures and halves cant hookup. now enter aiden. a pure who alex just cant for the love of the lord keep her eyes off of. mix that forbidden love in with some extremely dangerous and deadly daimon fights and you have the covenant series. i was over all a fan of this series, it was pretty much based on alex's problems and love life but they also focused a lot on the political workings of this secret society. they fight through the prejudices placed on half bloods and alex breaks every damn glass ceiling ever. girl power. however im fairly certain she has a death wish. throughout the book she is so self sacrificing its like she doesn't even care if she lives, she basically offers herself in place of others every chance she gets. im all for some heroic sacrifice but its like every fight she says "no if it means yall are safe ill just die" but in most cases there are so many other ways out of it and she doesn't even fight it! ive decided to rename this book dial m for martyr heheheheheheheh please please appreciate that joke before i cry. other than the fact that she is a suicidal energizer bunny alex is a pretty cool character. so jennifer l armentrout the love of my life my literary hero and author of my favorite series (the lux series *swoons*) now i hadn't read any of her other work besides the lux series until i read the covenant series and i have to tell yall she writes the wittiest and funniest dialogue ever! from reading both series you can definitely recognize her style of writing because its freakin hilarious. oh the one liners they give me hope for the future. she creates the best smart ass characters like every one of them, especially alex, have mouths like firecrackers and THE BANTER IS ENDLESS. i would recommend this book if you can get over alex's annoying martyr tendencies then its a great read and the fight scenes are so damn good it feels like your watching a wwe fight and you want to get up and root and yell for the heros but you cant because your mom will worry about your mental stability. don't act like yall don't relate. anyhoot i must away and learn things. if you liked the lux series, the strange angels series, or the mortal instruments series this is your thang right here. if not give it a try it may surprise you! thanks for reading
