Darkest Powers

OOOOOOOkay so school has officially started back up and since it wants to see me suffer ive already had to start cutting back on my reading time which is no bueno. that being said i may not post my next review for awhile depending on when a finish the book and how much homework i have too tackle.
side note: my sweet dad decided to surprise me and order a book online for me to read so that will probably be my next review. now my dad did give me the darkest powers series for which i am forever grateful (he saw it on a book list and said YOLO and got it) however i am slightly worried he will pick a goofy book... oh well thatll make for a fun filled review. also the only hint he would give me was that it was about vampires and im praying twilight doesn't show up on my porch in six business days.
so lets get starts with darkest powers by kelley armstrong. the book kicks off with chloe, an itty bity frail strawberry blonde, who has this breakdown in the middle of school when she sees this disfigured janitor, she figures out that he is a ghost because no one else can see him. now, when a small girl starts screaming about a man trying to get her when no one is there it seems logically to send them to a group home. however chloe soon learns that lyle house is no ordinary group home and the other teens aren't ordinary either. follow a bunch of pubescent rug-rats on the run as they use their powers to evade the police, fight of attackers, and sneak up on each other. meet derek the moody boy in the mist of a puberty smack down with some dark secrets and simon his perky foster brother who will never not be perky. never. like the world could explode and he would be perky. now i absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this serious, its funny and honestly relatable. i mean derek has acne like no other and i can just relate to that on a spiritual level and his mood swings just speak to my soul. #dereksouzaismyspiritanimal first off i am a huge fan of stories about teens doing epic things and kicking adult butt because it just feels so right. like reading about a fifteen year old girl knocking out a grown man is like watching WWE for book nerds. like how can you not root for a good rag tag group of teens! so character wise its pretty simple like there are no extremely complex love triangles or lies that i have to keep track of which is so nice. if you want some deep romance this isn't your thang because the romance is super simple (geared more towards younger readers) and definitely not the main point of the series and nothing really happens romantically till the end. another thing i admired about armstongs writing is the fact that all three books (which are around 400 pages each) take place over like two weeks. that's right book one(the reckoning), 400ish pages, soans of around four days worth of activities. and ya know the crazy thing is it didn't feel cramped together or anything like some books that have so many unnecessary chapters just to take up some space but this fair sized book that only covers four days isn't cramped at all and there are no unnecessary chapters BLESS THE LORD FOR THAT. i think the one thing that erked me is (spoilers be damned im gonna have to be vague for yall) chloe learns shes pretty powerful and she has at her disposal powers to create a "force" (because i cant tell yall what she can create *-*) and theoretically this force could do some serious damage however chloe doesn't really tap into that crazy bad ass side of herself that totally could have come out at any point. like if she could put on her big girl panties and do some damage on these bad guys that be fabulous. well apart from that i was a big fan of this series and i totally suggest this for an easy and fun read.  anyhoot hope yall read this, comment below if you want to chat or plan my marriage with a fictional character. that's the problem with all my crushes.... their all fictional... *cough cough jace couch daemon cough cough maxon* welllll im gonna go do precal homework
thanks for reading
