The Revenants

ATTN if you google the revenants more than likely it will show you stuff about the leo dicaprio movie so IF you go to google this book look up "until i die" (which is the first book) that is all carry on

alright so amy plum's revenant series, before i completely cry about my problems in a rant that will probably make you want to cut my tongue off, ill give you a lil summary. so this book takes place in modern day paris where main character kate and her sister georgia have moved to live with their grandparents after their parents were killed in an accident. kate starts seeing weird stuff and odd goings on and realizes eventuallllyyyy that their is this whole race of undead people called revenants living across the world their job is to save humans even if it costs them their lives (i wouldve said name this book "the suicide squad" but that names already taken) its okay though because revenants just come back to life a few days later if they die (unless you burn them in a fire) so kate falls in love with this revenant named vincent and she becomes apart of this whole world. now obviously you see the issue of an undead guy fallin for a living girl so thats a constant problem not to mention there are bad guys called numa who basically serve the opposite purpose of the revenants (to get people too die however they have too). i cant really give much else away for fear of spoilin so if yall want more just google it. refer to ATTN above before googling. so i was not a fan of this book. i eagerly waited six business days to get these books and im not feelin them anymore. remember even though im about to trash this book you may enjoy reading it, this may be your thang. dont let me stop you from doing your thang. where do i even start with this series, let me pull a compliment out of before the bloodbath begins. i liked the frequent use of the word baguette. that is all. okay i guess i enjoyed that there were so many historical references with the history, art, and the characters being from different decades plum obviously put a lot of work into making it historically accurate. what i didnt like about this book was that first off the relationship was shat. it wasnt believable at all for me and i couldnt get into it. and kate pissed me off too many times too count, this hoe was always runnin around sayin i can help i can help but she makes the situation so much worse and sure it works out a few times but its almost not even worth it. she acts like this is her world and she owns the damn place i mean she literally tells vincent at one point he doesnt understand the pain shes in with the death of her parents....the first time he died in the 1920's he saw his parents and future wife shot and killed and he has been dying for people for about 80 years so ya he has no idea how much pain youre in. that bothers me when regular characters almost push their way into these other worlds and kind of force everyone to accept them. believe me when i say i could rant for hours on everything about kate that made me want to push her off a bridge. however one major point i would like too rant on is a huge spoiler and im not gonna do that to y'all. lets just say kate is given a new role and while she doesnt fail she doesnt really do much to help, they all cheer her name at the end but she kind of just showed up.... also the fight scenes were crap. i kind of knew mid series plum didnt have the balls to kill off any major characters that anyone liked so i didnt really fear for their safety. and when dying is THAT hard for someone it didnt make me excited or nervous when a fight broke out in the book. FURTHERMORRREEE plum tried but in my opinion failed to pull off some kind of love triangle to shake up the book. the problem with this is that as shatty as their relationship is its obvious they are not going to run off with someone else. so when plum made this character (who shall remain nameless spoilerzz)  admit feelings for kate she kind of just said um sorry but no. then he got all salty and moved to new york....over a love triangle...that wasnt a triangle....it was all very unnecessary. LIKE THE WHOLE FIRST BOOK. AND MOST OF THE SECOND. THEY WERE SUCH FILLER BOOKS. honestly with zero character development in any emotional department whatsoever i could have wikipediaed the first and second books, read quick summaries, and then read the third book. it probably wouldve had the same effect. over all this book made me want to cry sad sad tears because i set the bar fairly high and this book was no where close to my expectations. this may be your thing but sure as hell was not mine. comment below if you felt differently or you want to join my rant. thanks for reading.
